Somebody’s Story Grant
A direct support program for those living with chronic illness.
The Somebody’s Story Grant is a core initiative of The Nicole House Foundation. It provides unrestricted financial relief to individuals impacted by chronic illness, caregiving, and mental health challenges. Whether you're navigating treatment, grieving a diagnosis, or simply trying to stay afloat, this grant was created to meet you where you are.
In 2025, we’re awarding over $$5000 in micro-grants to support adolescents and young adults (AYA) across Illinois. Each recipient will receive $500 in direct support—no strings, no red tape, just real help when it’s needed most.
Each year, the following five grants will be awarded:
The Remember Me Fund
In memory of Olivia Clarke. Supports cancer patients and survivors managing medical bills and basic living expenses.
The Matteo Valencia Fight Back Grant
For young adult survivors rebuilding their lives through education or vocational goals.
Stage Whatever Fund
An unrestricted grant for individuals navigating cancer—regardless of stage, status, or diagnosis.
The Shawnice Nicole “Stay Awhile” Fund
In memory of Shawnice Nicole. Supports Black women needed a little relief.
Along the Journey: Cancer Survivorship Support Program
In partnership with Advocates for Community Wellness and supported by Family Reach. Provides basic needs assistance—such as rent, food, transportation, and utilities—for African American women in active cancer treatment.
The Behind Me Fund x 2 = $500
For AYA’s with colon cancer.
We believe healing shouldn’t come second to survival. If you’re carrying something heavy, we see you.
